Message from IMTC Secretary General Sid Dhamija 2024

Dear Members of the India-Mexico Trade Council,

I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits.

As we continue to navigate the dynamic landscape of international trade, it is essential for us to reinforce and expand the robust economic relationship between India and Mexico. Both our nations have a rich history of cultural exchange and commercial collaboration, and it is my firm belief that our mutual cooperation will only grow stronger in the coming years.

Over the past year, we have witnessed significant strides in bilateral trade, with total trade between our countries reaching $10 billion USD in 2023. Key sectors such as information technology, pharmaceuticals, automotive, and agriculture have been at the forefront of this growth. India's IT and software services exports to Mexico have surged by 15%, while Mexican exports of automotive components to India have seen a remarkable increase of 20%. The ongoing dialogue between our business communities has been instrumental in identifying new opportunities and addressing challenges, ensuring that our trade relations remain resilient and mutually beneficial.

I would like to extend my heartfelt gratitude to each member of the India-Mexico Trade Council for your unwavering commitment and contributions. Your efforts have been pivotal in driving forward our shared objectives and fostering a spirit of collaboration. It is through your dedication that we continue to build a vibrant and sustainable economic partnership.

Looking ahead, we have several initiatives and events planned to further strengthen our ties. These include trade delegations, business forums, and collaborative projects aimed at enhancing market access and creating new avenues for investment. I encourage all members to actively participate and contribute to these initiatives, as your involvement is crucial to their success.

In this context, I am pleased to announce the following upcoming events:

1. India-Mexico Business Summit in New Delhi, India on October 15-17, 2024. This summit will focus on expanding cooperation in renewable energy and advanced manufacturing.
2. Automotive Innovation Expo in Monterrey, Mexico on July 12-14, 2024. This event will showcase the latest advancements in automotive technology and facilitate partnerships between Indian and Mexican companies.
3. Pharmaceutical Collaboration Conference in Hyderabad, India on November 22-24, 2024. This conference aims to explore new opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector, with a special emphasis on joint ventures and R&D collaboration.
4. Agricultural Trade Fair in Guadalajara, Mexico on August 5-7, 2024. This fair will provide a platform for discussing advancements in agricultural technologies and trade practices beneficial to both nations.
5. IT and Software Services Forum in Bengaluru, India on September 10-12, 2024. This forum will bring together leaders from the IT industry to discuss future trends, opportunities, and collaboration in software services.
